Platinum Adventures Club


Looking for Adventures? You've come to the right place as we offer the Platinum Adventures Club to customers who are at least 50 years old and maintain at least $5,000 in deposits.  Although it is not a requirement, we hope that you also maintain an active checking account*.

The Platinum Adventures Club is perfect for you if you like museums, theaters, out-of-town excursions, etc.  We do all the planning; you choose which events you want to go on.  There is no annual fee and you only pay for events you wish to participate in.  Some of our events are FREE too!

Mississippi River Cruise
June 23 – 25, 2010
Experience the magic of the Mississippi on a 100 mile river cruise aboard the Celebration Belle. We will begin our 3-day journey in Galena with lunch at Fried Green Tomatoes. We will move on to historic Dubuque for a guided tour and a gourmet progressive dinner in beautiful Victorian homes. Then, we will cruise from Dubuque to Bettendorf while enjoying a full breakfast, lunch and prime rib dinner, live entertainment and activities. We will travel through three locks and dams and view majestic bluffs before arriving in Bettendorf for the evening to enjoy the amenities at the Stoney Creek Inn. That night, you can take hotel shuttles to nearby casinos or stroll the riverfront boardwalk. On the third day, we will take a guided tour through Bishop Hill colony to experience the rich history of this “prairie utopia” established by industrious Swedish immigrants. A Swedish lunch will be served at the Red Oak, Bishop Hill.

A Day in Wisconsin - Don’t Miss the Boat!
Wednesday, July 14th - 8:30 am - 6:30 pm
We will begin our day with a visit to the Elegant Farmer, a farm kitchen bakery, deli and market where you will find delicious offerings, including the award-winning Apple Pie Baked in a Paper Bag - an Elegant Farmer’s signature item for decades! Lunch at the Deli will be on your own and we will have plenty of room on our coach for shopping bags! (We suggest buying a snack for the ride home, as we will arrive back during dinner time.)
We will then venture out onto Lake Geneva for a narrated 45 minute boat tour, followed by a 1.5 hour tour of the historical Black Point Estate. The Estate, built in 1888 by beer magnate Conrad Seipp, is located on a bluff overlooking the lake and is believed to be one of the finest surviving examples of great Midwest summer homes. There are 100 stairs from the pier to the house, so we recommend this tour only for those who are comfortable walking and climbing.

We have re-scheduled this event due to our long waiting list last quarter! Join us as we learn how a more powerful memory can improve efficiency and reduce stress. Tom Weber, a trainer with Freedom Personal Development who travels across the US leading “Memory Training” and “Smart Reading” workshops to thousands of business professionals, will teach you how to train your mind and memory to become a faster reader and retain more information. Many of us hold on to our old gold or silver jewelry, stamps and coins because they may be worth something. Now, you can find out whether these items are trash or treasure! John Kozicki and E. Arnold Lordahl of Glenview Coin and Collectibles, Inc., will purchase the items you no longer want or wear on the spot. You could walk out with a big fat check - or better yet, deposit the check into your account at the bank!

Architectural Boat Cruise and Ride the Sea Dog Speed Boat
Wednesday, August 4th
You can’t look at Chicago’s magnificent sky line and not want to know more about its architecture. What better place to see it than from the deck of a Chicago Line Cruise! Our on board docent will tell us what a daunting task Chicago faced after being destroyed by the fire and how visionaries such as Jenney, Root, Burnham and Sullivan paved the way for plate glass and structural steel as well as many more interesting facts. After lunch at Cappy’s Italian Kitchen, we will take a ride on the Seadog, a speed boat that goes along the shoreline of Chicago or you can choose to shop and ride the Ferris Wheel.

Second City’s Rod Blagojevich Super Star

The legendary Second City comes to the Metropolis theatre in Arlington Heights for a limited run of their megahit musical comedy revue, Rod Blagojevich Superstar. It’s an hilarious comedy about the rise and fall of the former Illinois Governor - hair and all! We will dine at The Tuscan Market.

Logan Square Preservation will host its 29th annual walk featuring an interior tour of homes as well as two beautiful neighborhood churches. See how many of Chicago’s wealthy and middle class families lived side-by-side in 1900. A self-guided tour of its many beautiful gardens will be available for relaxed strolling and viewing.
