Looking for Adventures? You've come to the right place as we offer the Platinum Adventures Club to customers who are at least 50 years old and maintain at least $5,000 in deposits.  Although it is not a requirement, we hope that you also maintain an active checking account*.

The Platinum Adventures Club is perfect for you if you like museums, theaters, out-of-town excursions, etc.  We do all the planning; you choose which events you want to go on.  There is no annual fee and you only pay for events you wish to participate in.  Some of our events are FREE too!

Gems of Sicily and Southern Italy

Wednesday, October 14th
Nadia Eskin of Eskin Tours will speak to us and answer questions about our fabulous trip to Sicily and Southern Italy. She will tell us about Taormina–the most beautiful and well-known town in Sicily. We’ll hear about the journey to the toe of the boot of Italy–Calabria–a region of unspoiled beauty. We go from Sorrento to the beautiful and exotic Isle of Capri to visit the chic boutiques where Jackie O shopped. The historic cities of Naples and Pompeii will come alive with Nadia’s description. Learn how you can make unforgettable memories on our trip from April 10th -19th, 2010.

Personal Safety Issues Seminar

Monday, October 19th
Patricia Bedoian of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office will speak to us on personal safety issues. She will be addressing issues in our homes, while we are in our vehicles and when we are on the streets. We read every day in the papers the dangers that are “out there.” Patricia will help us learn how to make our homes safer, become more observant of our surroundings and react appropriately in various situations.

The Nature of Diamonds at the Field Museum

Wednesday, October 28
From its geological origins to its place in art, history and literature, no other gem has captured the world’s imagination quite like a diamond. Examine the unique properties of the diamond and explore the gem in its natural state as you journey along from mine to dealer. You will enjoy the most wide ranging exhibit ever developed on the allure of diamonds, with over 500 objects drawn from private collections and major museums from around the world. Highlights include pieces by Cartier, Boucheron and Tiffany. We will lunch at Tommy Nevin’s Pub in Evanston with a choice of Country Baked Meat Loaf, Chicken Pot Pie, Shepherd’s Pie or Fish & Chips. Afterwards we will visit Wilmette Jewelers and learn more about the 4 C’s of diamonds from gemologist Gayle Inbinder.

Have you ever wondered what the dollar value might be of a family keepsake or a garage sale purchase? Karl Gates, a professional appraiser, will inspect and evaluate two articles of your choice. Space is limited. Large heavy pieces can be evaluated from photographs. Note: Guns, coins and stamps will not be appraised. Due to the time limit of two hours, there is a possibility not all items will be appraised. Reservation openings limited to 30 – please reserve early.

Diana Molnar, a health care consultant specializing in senior housing, will speak to us about navigating the senior housing maze. It is important to be an informed consumer and know the options and resources available–of which there are many. Diana will tell us how we can integrate these resources into our lives. We will learn how the changing industry trends can relate to us. This event is free but reservations are needed.

Afternoon Tea With Barbara Rinella

Please join us for a relaxing afternoon of High Tea (including: assorted scones, finger sandwiches and pastries) in the tranquil setting of Sunset Ridge Country Club. Following tea, Barbara Rinella will dramatize “American Lion, Andrew Jackson in the White House” by Jon Meacham. Barbara presents another astounding portrait of a great American. From very humble log cabin beginnings, a boy whose father died weeks before he was born and who would become an orphan by 14, Andrew Jackson rose to become the first common man to be elected President. What were the hardships that created this tough and fierce backwoodsman who truly earned the nickname, “Old Hickory?” Come and find out! Transportation is on your own to this event.
